About Richard Hamersma

Fewest Scars

Richard Hamersma

Genre: Country/Country Pop/Adult Contemporary

Sometimes a relationship just doesn’t work out and it’s time to go on alone.  Yet for the sake of the feelings that once were, the ending should be as easy, painless and cause as few scars as possible.

Isolated train platform at night

I can see the clouds up in the sky
But I can’t see what hides behind your eyes
My head’s telling me its time to leave
While my heart’s keeping me from breaking free

Oh I knew we had love
But it’s drifting away
We tried to keep it close
But it just wouldn’t stay
So before it’s all gone
Drifting away too far
Let’s just end it now
With the fewest scars

I don’t feel that pulse now when we kiss
Wish I know what it was that you still miss
Now I’m watching this love slowly die
Need to find the strength so I can say good-bye

Oh I knew we had love
But it’s drifting away
We tried to keep it close
But it just wouldn’t stay
So before it’s all gone
Drifting away too far
Let’s just end it now
With the fewest scars

Don’t wanna keep hoping it’s all gonna change
Don’t wanna stay if no real love remains

So let me touch your body one more time
Before you fade away from me and mine
Guess there’s no escape from what I fear
Let me hold you close before you disappear

Chorus:

Yeah let’s just end it now
With the fewest scars
